The Endurance 54 is a variant of the Endurance 61. The first to be launched was the vessel built for the Thames Oil Spill Clearance Association which is used as a fast reaction oil spill recovery vessel on the River Thames and is operated by the Port of London Authority.
She is powered by twin Volvo 460hp turbo charged diesels, operating through hydraulically controlled PP170 water jet drives.
She has long range fuel tanks and a purpose-built rotating brush oil recovery system.
A knuckleboom crane which can lift up to 6 tons, radar and fire protection systems are fitted. Navigation is from a lantern style wheelhouse for improved visibility.
The TOSCA vessel is a good example of the advantages of good catamaran design being able to work in a polluted area whilst causing the minimal disturbance to the oil slick. The 54 can be built to suit virtually any specification and role.
