Prout's brilliant all new 38 is the second 'new generation' design so emphatically pioneered by the outstanding successful 45 - of which no less than twenty three boats have been sold since her debut a little over a year ago.

And with Prout, success always breeds success.

The distinguished new Prout 38 heralds another quantum leap in performance and hull design that underwrites Prout's unchallenged No 1 ranking in the world of cruising catamarans.

high volume - high performance

Central to the concept of the 38 is a revolutionary new 'high volume' hull form to provide increased load carrying, smoother, more comfortable seakeeping and a dramatic improvement in performance.

The once familiar Prout nacelle has been succeeded by a new mini version with an arched bridge deck. This example of 'monocoque' engineering is at the heart of the new 38 and creates massive structural integrity throughout the boat.

The mini nacelle acts as a longitudinal stiffener while the high clearance and arching of the bridgedeck gives added strength and deflects solid water contact with great efficiency.

Flatter underwater hull sections reduce drag and minimize stern wash for blistering offwind performance. Low aspect ratio NACRA-profiled keels and elliptical rudder profiles give the new boat tremendous lift for real yacht-like performance upwind with the power to support the taller, more efficient rig.

Prout's designers have managed to reduce weight in the bow and transom of the new hulls to cut down pitching and improve overall stability and comfort on board. And with a Sail Area/Displacement ratio of around 20:1 and the advanced double triangulated rig, the Prout 38 will deliver rocket ship passage making in a breeze as well as superb light-weather performance.

And when the wind dies away completely, the muted throb and reassurance of her twin Volvo 10hp or 20hp watercooled diesels will oversee her safe return to port.

On deck, the elegant Prout 38 provides levels of comfort and security that demonstrate Prout's 45 year record at the forefront of catamaran building.

No one knows better how to design a cockpit that provides a safe and secure command station for the crew in rough weather - yet transforms into a spacious and comfortable location for elegant al fresco dining on a warm evening.

Prout really understand ho to design a big, liveaboard, luxury cruiser that can be simply and safely handled by a husband and wife team.

Access to the sumptuous main saloon is through a huge Plexiglass bi-fold door from the cockpit. In fine weather or in harbour, this can be left open to give an amazing open plan feeling to the boat with excellent light down below. Generous relaxing and dining areas are provided in the saloon as well as a truly ergonomic navigation and electronics station - all with a panoramic view of the outside world.

Prout's highest standards of styling and decor are of course much in evidence and individual owners are invited to contribute their own preferences for fabrics, wood finishes and so on. However, in the interests of achieving the best ever value for money, the Prout 38 will conform to a more 'standard' accommodation layout than her predecessors. This comprises tow enormous double cabins with luxury size berths and ensuite facilities together with a third cosy double or twin berth cabin. With a spectacular 'sculptured' and luxuriously appointed bathroom, the latest new-generation Prout cruising catamaran offers excellent and versatile accommodation for long or short term voyaging or for sailing with guests. In all respects the perfect family cruiser.

The new Prout 38. More pace. More style. More stability. And the best value for money ever.

The long distance cruiser for the next millennium.

Prout has never mass produced catamarans for the charter holiday market.   We build individual boats for individual clients.  We have ensured the boats performance, seaworthiness, ease of handling and reliability.  You have the chance to stamp your personality on the final cabin layout, colour scheme, fabrics, furnishings together with the instrumentation and electronics package, galley and bathroom inventories.  Your Prout 38 will reflect your personality and good taste.  For experienced blue water cruisers it will incorporate those additions which so enhance life afloat.  For less experienced yachtsmen we are always happy to lend our years of experience giving you  the practical advice you need.  We never forget that at the end of the day its your boat - your Prout 38.
